YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, Andhra Pradesh chief minister, releases Rs 2,977 cr for 2021 Kharif crop loss to farmers

TIRUPATI: Andhra Pradesh chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday released Rs 2,977 crore to 15.6 lakh farmers for the crop loss incurred by them during the 2021 Kharif season on Tuesday.

Addressing an impressive public meeting at Chennekothapalli village in Sri Sathya Sai district on Tuesday, the chief minister reiterated the commitment of the state government to the farming community and maintained that Andhra Pradesh contributed generously for the welfare of the farmers of the state when compared to other states across the country.

The chief minister underlined that the present government had disbursed Rs 1.28 lakh crore towards farmer welfare under different schemes during the last three years.

Jagan pointed out that the Rythu Bharosa Kendras of the AP government were such a big hit that elected representatives and bureaucrats from other states were visiting Andhra Pradesh to study the successful model.

"The state government is extending an exgratia of Rs 7 lakh to the kin of the farmers who committed suicide and there is not a single family in the state who have been missed out on the exgratia," asserted the chief minister.

Referring to the violence which erupted in the Konaseema district recently in which minister Viswaroop's residence was torched by mobsters, YS Jagan launched a scathing attack on the Telugu Desam Party for inflicting violence in the state under some pretext or the other.

"Some miscreants who are in the opposition are unable to digest the state government's move to rechristen Konaseema district's name as Ambedkar Konaseema district. They incited violence and torched a Dalit minister's and a BC MLA's residence. Such people dream of coming to power in the state which will never happen," he lamented.

The chief minister also lashed out at the opposition parties for trying to politicize the SSC results and for trying to flare up sentiments among the student fraternity over the pass percentage.
