A YouTuber is under fire for texting and driving in the rain seconds before crashing his $200,000 custom vehicle.
Jack Doherty, a 20-year-old YouTuber with nearly 15 million subscribers, was seen in a Kick livestream texting and driving on a Miami-area highway in a rainstorm on Saturday.
Seconds later, Doherty is heard repeatedly yelling "no" while attempting to turn his steering wheel as his vehicle hydroplanes and crashes into a guardrail.
A clip from the livestream, which has since been deleted, went viral on X. It showed Doherty's crashed vehicle and his bloodied passenger, whom he referred to as Michael.
Doherty, who appears unhurt in the crash, then asked his bleeding friend to record him reacting to his crashed vehicle, a custom $200,000 McLaren supercar.
X users scolded Doherty for his actions with some even calling for jail time.
On Sunday, Doherty uploaded a 10-minute video of the incident, titled "i crashed my mclaren..." In it, the YouTuber's friends and mother are seen reacting to news of his crash. He was also heard telling them his friend received stitches.
Within 24 hours, the video accrued nearly 200,000 views, but users were not kind. One user, @godly2k, wrote, "I hope you get jail time for this and that your friend sue you for everything you own."
Another user, @bg710, commented, "can someone who is a 'fan' of jack doherty explain why you follow and support him? i can find no reason."
Doherty uploaded a similar video titled "I Crashed My Lamborghini!" just seven months ago.
