Nerdy Nummies icon Rosanna Pansino has left the internet both shook to the core and teary-eyed after she smoked her dead dad in honour of his dying wish on her Rodiculous podcast.
When folks usually indulge in marijuana, most would describe the experience as something fun or a way to take the edge off.
However, in the debut episode of Ridiculous, hosted by Pansino, she decided to smoke a fat joint out of respect for her father’s dying wish.
In the podcast’s first-ever episode, which is literally titled “Smoking My Dead Dad”, Pansino revealed that it was Papa Pizza’s — who passed away five years ago due to leukemia — dying wish to have his ashes mixed with soil so he could grow into a tall, strong Mary Jane plant.
“Before he passed, he told me and my mum what he would like us to do with his ashes and at first, my mom was a little bit hesitant,” Pansino began.
“She thought, this is kind of hippie, you know, people are gonna judge us. But as time’s gone on, we just really think that it’s the right time to do what Dad wanted and to honour him the way he wanted.
“So years ago he told me and my mum that he would like us to take his ashes, mix it in with some soil and grow a marijuana plant and smoke him.
“I told you he was a rebel.”
Pansino then shared footage of the day they planted the Papa Pizza strain and the beautiful moment she shared with her mother. The YouTuber then revealed continued by revealing the Papa Pizza strain had finally been harvested and rolled into pink joints.
“I mean, this, if Papa Pizza could see this, you guys, he would just — he would get a huge kick out of this,” Pansino shared.
Alongside smoking her dad, Pansino wanted to use her debut episode as an opportunity to highlight the topic of grief. Something she was very familiar with following the passing of Papa Pizza.
“Interesting how grief can hit you when you are not planning for it, and you don’t wait it to,” Pansino shared.
“And I thought over time, the sadness would fade, but grief is always with me, it feels like it is permanently attached to me.”
Throughout the episode, Pansino unpacked the meaning of grief, it stages and how to deal with it alongside author and grief expert David Kessler.
