PewDiePie shared his heartbreak as he announced the tragic death of his beloved pet pug Maya who died following a devastating 'health decline'.
The YouTube star, 33, penned a touching tribute to his much-loved pooch earlier this week, thanking the dog for bringing him "closer" to his wife Marzia.
Sharing a carousel of memories with Maya on Instagram, PewDiePie, real name Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg, wrote: "Said farewell to my little Maya this morning."
"17 years is a long time for a pug, but no time in the world would've ever been enough. I didn't think I could love a dog as much as I loved her."
He added: "Thank you for all the wonderful time we got to spend with you Thank you for always making my days brighter Thank you for bringing me closer to Marzia.
"I will miss you so much and I already do.. you will always be in my heart Maya."
Felix had previously discussed Maya's "declining" health in a previous YouTube video, saying that she had been suffering from dementia earlier this year.
"We'll see how she develops. But Maya has the 'dementies'. She’s so old. Her mind is kind of declining a bit," he admitted in a recent vlog.
Boasting more than 110million subscribers on YouTube, his army of followers were quick to comment on the content creator's devastating news.
Fellow YouTuber JackSepticEye commented: "So sorry to hear, RIP Maya." Another replied: "Sorry to hear mate, she had a big life for a little pup."
"I’ll always remember you maya. even though you were such a little dog you made a big impact. we’ll miss you," [sic] said another concerned follower.
A fourth penned: "So sorry to hear, this sucks. Her presence in your videos was a huge part of my childhood. Rest in peace to the legend and my condolences."
Popular pooch account 'itsdougthepug' shared: "Maya was the cutest girl pug I’ve ever known. I’m so grateful we got to meet her.
"She was filled with joy and happiness and her memory will always be a celebration. You guys have her the most incredible life. She will be so missed."
Minecraft YouTuber DanTDM was also amongst those commenting, adding: "So sorry to hear this. Maya was one of the reasons we got pugs." While KSI simply shared: "R.I.P."
Felix is one of YouTube's biggest creators, he's a college drop-out who used to work as a hot dog seller. In 2010, he started using his spare time to upload gaming videos.
His videos were as much about his personality as the games he was featuring, and he quickly attracted a devoted following.
