YouTube star Logan Paul's WWE announcement booed as fans react to return

Logan Paul is expected to return to WWE for SummerSlam this summer - with the news jeered by wrestling fans.

Paul made his debut in the wrestling promotion with tag-team partner The Miz, when they fought the Mysterios at the hallmark Wrestlemania 38 event. They picked up victory with Paul impressing due to his entertaining role in the fight, and ability to pick up the sport quickly.

Paul was expected to make a return to the WWE if they offered him a longer-term contract. Pictures were shown on the screen at Monday Night Raw of Paul's social media post which showed him taking part in professional wrestling training. The Miz watched the images on the screen with fans before announcing: "Let me ask you something. Who do you think set that up? I did and here is an exclusive for everybody.

"Logan Paul and The Miz will return in the most must-see tag team in WWE history at SummerSlam, and we will continue our winning ways the same as we did with the Mysterios' at Wrestlemania." The news was met with boos ringing around the arena, with Paul and his partner seen as a villains during the early stages of his career in wrestling.

He was booed throughout his debut which was met with superb reviews after he effortlessly took to his new career move. However the joy was short-lived on the night, after The Miz turned on him and used his signature move to the delight of the fans.

Fans were impressed by Paul's appearance with many suggesting he should be signed up on a long-term deal following his surprise stint. Paul believes he hasn't yet reached his full potential with the company and is considering taking on a full-time role to build on his debut.

"I'm on board now," Paul told The True Geordie. "I only trained two days, I am just scratching the surface for what I can do in that ring. Just wait, I'm so excited. I'll give it my all. I am considering [signing a deal]. I think they wanted to see what I could do, that was my case study. "My number one objective was to deliver. It's up to the fans, if the fans don't like me or do like me that's going to be the determinant of whether I come back or not but it turns out, I might have a little meat on that bone.

"Where it gets difficult is. I got famous for being me, I don't have a character. I can't be overly performative in my approach because I'm not playing a character. I don't know how many wrestlers are playing a character when they hop in that ring versus just being themselves, but I have to be myself."

Paul will likely now juggle a career in WWE with his investment in NFTs and a boxing return if he elects to build on his exhibition with Floyd Mayweather.
