YouTube boxers weigh combined 800lb as heaviest-ever fight is made official

YouTube heavyweights Wings of Redemption and Boogie 2988 tipped the scales at a combined 796lb ahead of the heaviest-ever fight.

Happy Punch Promotion fighters Wings of Redemption and Boogie 2988 will feature on the preliminary card of KSI's huge battle with professional fighter Joe Fournier in London tomorrow night. The former shot to fame for his career on video streaming service YouTube having streamed himself playing video game Call Of Duty, while his rival filmed comedy sketches playing character 'Francis' which gained his notoriety.

The pair have been pitched together as rivals on the undercard and clashed during a topless face-off at yesterday's press conference, with both men vowing it could be the biggest fight ever. And that has been confirmed after Wings scaled 404.3lb and Boogie weighed 391.6lb.

The combined weight of around 800lb takes the fight to a history-making position, with the pair producing the heaviest boxing clash on the record. Last year a contender for the heaviest fight took place between strongmen Eddie Hall and Thor Bjornsson who tipped the scales at a combined 600lb.

Heavyweight Dustin Nicholls also infamously fought Deontay Wilder with the pair beating that record at a combined 613lb back in 2010, when the 'Bronze Bomber' was making his name in the sport. However the highest weighing contest prior to his YouTube meeting was sanctioned between high-profile Eric 'Butterbean' Esch and Kirk Lawton.

Having been known for his heavy physique throughout his time beyond the ropes, on this occasion he physically broke the scales coming in at 426lb for his contest. His opponent Lawton weighed around 250lb which saw the amassed weight of 676lb set a new record.

It will not be in a typical professional format for the two influencer stars this weekend who will compete across three rounds lasting 90 seconds. It has not been easy road for either fighter to get to this point, with Boogie2988 even revealing he was unable to leave the US due to his weight.

He told Mirror Fighting : "I would have told you five years ago there was no way I would have been able to leave America. This fight would have killed me, once I got to London what could I have done? Use a wheelchair to get around from restaurant to restaurant? I think it's a miracle that I'm here, six years ago I got gastric bypass surgery and lost 200lb.

"I've also focused on my brain, I saw a psychedelic therapist earlier in the year and I realised how wrong I was about life. I was also so afraid and scared of everything. I realised the point of life is a game to be played to have fun and that's what I'm here to do."
