YouTube boxer Deji makes damning claim about fight payment from Floyd Mayweather

YouTube boxer Deji has claimed that he has yet to be paid in full for his Dubai exhibition bout with Floyd Mayweather back in November.

The social media star travelled to the Middle East for the latest in Mayweather's series of outlandish exhibition bouts as part of his post-retirement world tour last year, losing by stoppage in the eighth round. Ultimately, the event was not a major pay-per-view success and Global Titans have gone dark on social media as their next moves remain unknown.

And in a new video for his YouTube channel, Deji has declared that he is still awaiting payment from the Middle Eastern company, over six months on from the bout. He and Mayweather were both paid sizeable purses, although the boxing icon was given considerably more for his involvement in the bout.

"Global Titans? Yeah they just fully disappeared," Deji told fans in a video reacting to Reddit posts, one of which asked where the promotion had gone. "They still owe me money, actually. I enjoyed sharing the ring with Floyd Mayweather and that's enough payment in itself.

"I got to share the ring with a great. He was nice to me, yeah, he took the p*** in the ring but I still hold so much respect for him, I think he's a solid guy. A d***head, but solid!"

Mayweather is known for picking opponents who can't cause him much damage since retiring in 2017, and has taken his tour from Japan to London with stops in Miami and the Middle East over the past five years. But his bout with Deji was particularly farcical, with the fighter opting to dance around and at times toy with his lower-level opponent.

However, Deji landed a moral victory of sorts when he managed to land one big shot that opened up Mayweather, leaving the boxing legend with a very rare cut. The boxer hasn't fought since, but will return to the ring on June 11 against John Gotti III, an undefeated professional boxer making the move from MMA.

Deji isn't the only person who had issues with Global Titans; Tommy Fury was forced into an exhibition bout when his fight against Paul Bamba was cancelled on fight day due to a weight problem. The pair reportedly were given contracts with different weights, which meant that the Brit came in considerably heavier than Bamba, who was under the light-heavyweight limit.

Bamba made the weight on his contract, but was removed from the card after raising issues over Fury's weight and has since not been paid, despite honouring his deal. The promotion have yet to comment on Deji's video, with their last public post a mocking tweet directed at Dillon Danis on January 5. Their Instagram has been wiped but their Twitter remains active liking tweets.
