Youth left fighting for life in hospital after double stabbing on DLR train

Two youths were stabbed in a fight on a DLR train with one left in a life threatening condition.

Officers were called to Cutty Sark DLR station to reports of the violence at around 5.30pm on Sunday.

They believe the stabbing came after a fight broke out between four people, while they were travelling between between Greenwich and Cutty Sark station - where both the two victims and two suspects got off.

A 16-year-old suffered what is thought to be a severe wound to the hand, and a 15-year-old a life-threatening, or life-changing, injury to the thigh.

They were rushed to hospital by ambulance and Cutty Stark was closed by authorities.

Photos on social media show a heavy police presence outside the station on Sunday night.

The British Transport Police has appealed for witnesses, asking anyone with information to get in touch.

You can text 61016 or call 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 420 -171223.

Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
