Youth ATV Maker Issues Recall That Makes You Seriously Question Its Credibility

Some recalls come down to a simple design mistake or an area that was overlooked. For example, the roll cages of some recent Polaris RZR models were rendered dangerous due to some fasteners that weren't tightened correctly—not an egregious oversight, but it still had serious consequences. However, this doesn't seem to be the case for E-Bully and its youth All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs).

On April 10, the company issued a recall for the youth ATVs because they failed to comply with the requirements of the federal mandatory ATV safety standard. The handlebars pose a laceration to children whose head or body impacts the handlebars.

Handlebars on any powersports vehicle that pose a laceration hazard just seem like a basic oversight or that the vehicle was built to a price point way below what it should be. The handlebars aren't the only issue with these ATVs.

Additionally, the parking brakes fail to hold, posing a collision hazard. The combination of these two problems means the ATV fails to meet the mandatory safety requirements and poses a risk of serious injury or death.

The recall specifically involves the E-Bully Youth Electric 1000W ATVs sold under various brand names, including “Seangles” and “Offroad Mall.” These models will have the name "E-Bully" located on the VIN plate on the right front side of the frame column. Although there are about 1,300 affected ATVs, no injuries have been reported at the time of publication.

A plate on the left front side of the frame column states, "This ATV is subject to LIL PICK UP INC’s Action Plan approved by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.”, Anyone in possession of an affected unit should stop using it immediately and contact a Lil Pick Up for a free repair from an authorized repair shop.

The affected units were sold by multiple online retailers, including Amazon.com, Ebay.com, Seangles.com and other websites from September 2023 through October 2024 for about $1,000.
