Youssoufa Moukoko has told Liverpool what he wants to make Borussia Dortmund transfer

Liverpool are chasing Youssoufa Moukoko but will have to convince the rising star that a move to Anfield would not see him sat on the bench.

That's according to The Times, who say the Reds are one of three Premier League sides monitoring Moukoko alongside Manchester United and Chelsea. The 18-year-old is expected to be the latest in a long line of world-class players developed by Borussia Dortmund, following his six goals and six assists in 22 games across all competitions this season.

Moukoko's current contract with the Bundesliga club runs out in the summer and his reluctance to quash speculation by signing a new deal is said to have put the Reds on high alert. Dortmund reportedly saw an annual salary offer of £4.4million rebuffed by the Germany international but are expected to return to negotiate and are desperate not to lose their star for free.

The forward and his representatives are edging closer toward £6million, but his acknowledgement of the opportunities handed to him in Germany make a resolution possible. Moukoko has already played 52 times in the Bundesliga and Champions League, with Dortmund clear that they see the teenager as a future star.

The report adds that Moukoko will weigh up his options once agreeable terms are found, but potential suitors will have to convince him that his development would not be stunted by decreasing game-time.

One of those who will need to convince him is thought to be Liverpool, with Jurgen Klopp possibly keen on attacking reinforcements, following the latest setback in Luis Diaz's recovery last week. The Colombian flew out with the squad to Dubai as he stepped up rehabilitation from a knee injury picked up against Arsenal in October, but complained of pain and subsequently flew back to the UK for surgery.

Klopp will now have just three senior forwards to get him through the winter, with Diogo Jota expected to be sidelined until February with a long-term calf injury.

If they follow up their supposed interest, the Reds will face competition for Moukoko, with Chelsea also looking to add attacking strength following an injury. Armando Broja has been ruled out for the season after rupturing a cruciate ligament in his knee during a friendly against Aston Villa.

United are also in need of goals following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo, who left the club following an explosive interview with Piers Morgan in which he slammed the Red Devils and their manager, Erik Ten Hag.
