Youri Tielemans 'open' to Arsenal transfer on one condition that Arteta could secure this week

Arsenal will need to qualify for next season's UEFA Champions League if they wish to sign Youri Tielemans, according to recent reports.

The north London outfit spent more than any other Premier League side last summer, splashing over £140million on six different players and technical director Edu is set for another busy window. football.london understands that the Brazilian transfer chief is keen to bring in a central midfielder, with the likes of Ruben Neves of Wolves and Napoli star Fabian Ruiz both heavily linked in recent times.

Another name that has been mooted as a potential target is Leicester City playmaker Youri Tielemans and the Evening Standard have now reported that while Tielemans is keen on a move to the Emirates Stadium, his primary reason for leaving Brendan Rodgers' side is his desire to play in the Champions League. The report also states that he could look elsewhere if the Gunners are unable to secure a top-four finish this term.

Arsenal currently finds themselves four points clear of fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur, who they will battle it out against on Thursday night. Manager Mikel Arteta has urged his team to be more ruthless in front of goal when they play Spurs following their wasteful display in front of goal during Sunday's 2-1 win against Leeds United.

When asked by Sky Sports what he is expecting of his team in the north London derby, the Spaniard said: "That we score the third and the fourth goals, that we be that ruthless team and that they don't give absolutely anything to the opponent. We will play Spurs with the same attitude.

"We know how big that game is going to be and how decisive it is going to be, so as always, we plan it to win."
