Youri Tielemans is Manchester United's 'chosen midfielder' and more transfer rumours

Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans is reportedly the 'chosen one' that Manchester United want to sign during the January transfer window.

According to Fichajes, Reds manager Erik ten Hag is keen on recruiting the Belgium international as he targets three signings in the new year - a right back, a creative midfielder and another forward. The report adds that Tielemans would rotate with summer signing Christian Eriksen.

It is thought that the 25-year-old can be acquired for a 'much lower price compared to his talent' due to his expiring contract situation, which is one of the reasons why Ten Hag is interested in a move for the Leicester man.

Tielemans was linked with a transfer away from the Foxes in the summer after months of speculation, however, the midfielder remained at the club and has started all but one of Leicester's opening Premier League fixtures so far this season. With just over nine months remaining on his current contract, he is free to agree pre-contracts with clubs outside of the country from January 1st.

Elsewhere, Italian journalist Rudy Galetti has reported that Roma will contact Victor Lindelof's agent 'in the coming weeks' to discuss a move away from United.

Galetti claims that the Serie A giants are in the market for a new centre-back, but have rejected the opportunity to sign several free agents. However, he adds that new 'contacts' are expected to take place over a potential January deal for 28-year-old Lindelof.

Lindelof has only made one appearance for the Reds so far this season - starting in the 1-0 defeat to Real Sociedad last week. He has fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford and looks unlikely to feature much given the impressive form of Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez.
