Your week in chic: Fendi's Lunar New Year, ten years of Alighieri and Jigsaw's stylish new collection

ENTER THE (VV CUTE) DRAGON

Fendi's Lunar New Year collection at Selfridges (Fendi)

In adorable Lunar New Year news, for its latest Friends of Fendi series the Italian superbrand has partnered with Hiroshi Fujiwara for a Pokémon-infused collection. Find his playful dragon-type motif scattered whimsically across jacquard FF logo accessories, silk scarves and other sweet ephemera. ‘I first met Hiroshi Fujiwara in London in 1999 — and what can I say? He’s one of my idols and I love him,’ said Fendi artistic director Kim Jones. ‘He’s an instigator of the Japanese club scene, its youth fashion scene and its streetwear scene. I have been in love with Japan for a long time; its influence on me and what I do is huge — Hiroshi is a major part of that.’ You’ll find the collection in a month-long pop-up at Selfridges too, complete with a giant dragon character for good luck and Insta-posing.

From £170, at selfridges.com and fendi.com

A PERFECT 10

The Infernal Storm earrings, £375, alighieri.com (Alighieri)

To mark her decade in business (an impressive feat in this climate) Rosh Mahtani of Alighieri is reissuing 10 of her most beloved pieces in ‘The Classics’ collection. Taking her artistic cue from Dante’s Inferno, Mahtani’s pieces are all hand-made in London using traditional wax sculpting methods offering a naturally imperfect shape (Mahtani kicked off the vogue for off-kilter organically-created jewellery). She describes her pieces as ‘talismanic objects of strength through break-ups and illnesses, or creating bonds between friends and lovers.’

FINAL PIECE OF THE JIGSAW

Jigsaw spring summer 2023 (Jigsaw)

We are still slightly reeling from the fact that one of our favourite revamped high street stores is losing its star creative director. Last year Jo Sykes, the Central St Martins alumna who’d previously helmed Aquascutum and Nicole Farhi, announced her departure from Jigsaw hot on the heels of her sell out Roksanda collaboration. Sob. Her final spring summer collection — the very last with her hand writing stylishly woven through — is a veritable treat of cool, clean classics with an intelligent fashion twist. Is spring summer Jigsaw the new (affordable) old Celine? Do discuss.
