What to shop – the best of the early Presidents' Day sales
Here at Homes & Gardens, we employ a dedicated team of shopping writers and sales hunters to find the best of the early Presidents' Day sales. We each have our own specialism. Lydia covers kitchen content, including the best air fryers: Dan focuses on floorcare to find the best vacuum; Charlotte picks the prettiest furniture and decor; and I'm your resident Sleep Editor, helping you find the lowest price on the best mattress. I asked my fellow eCommerce Editors what they recommend from our test labs and hours of online research.
For comfort and cooling, the Tempur-Adapt Mattress Topper is the best mattress topper on the market, but I sometimes hesitate to recommend it because of the price. Now, with a deep discount in advance of Presidents' Day, I'm feeling much more confident.

'For cold, fresh smoothies, the NutriBullet Flip is the best portable blender I’ve tried so far,' says our Kitchen Appliance Editor, Lydia Hayman. 'The motor is powerful, the design feels trustworthy, and the lid never leaked during my week of testing. My only disappointment? It can’t handle hot ingredients.'

'The corded Shark POWERDETECT has the kind of power to put cordless and robot vacuums to shame,' says home tech reviewer, James Holland. ' 'It’s able to suck everything up in its path efficiently and proficiently, no matter the debris. And, it’s equally capable regardless of the surface I used it on.'

'This appliance has changed the way people make ice cream,' says expert tester Laura Honey. 'Rather than churn for twenty plus minutes, the Creami delivers you soft-serve results in three minutes. However, 24 hours worth of freeze time is the longest prep time of any ice cream maker that I tested. It was the heaviest and loudest by a long way.'

One of my new year's resolutions is to be a better hostess. I want to start incorporating more personal touches into my tablescapes, and these monogram cocktail napkins would be a great place to start. Each set of four contains an assortment of colors: light blue, navy, pink, and neutral.
For slow-cooking in style, I recommend a cocotte. I use mine to simmer stews and soups and braise meat and veg. Staub makes cast-iron cookware to rival Le Creuset − and, when you take advantage of the early discounts in the Presidents' Day sales, you can get it for a fraction of the price.
How to shop the Presidents' Day sales
DO your research ahead of time
Before any major sales holiday, I like to comb through my favorite retailers and make a wish list of the products I want to buy. I make sure I'm signed up for mailing lists to get notified when anything on my wish list goes on sale.
DON'T buy something just because it's on sale
As a sales hunter, I love a good bargain − but as a shopping writer, I'll never compromise quality for cost. Before you snap up that sales price, ask yourself whether the discount is too deep – whether you're being tricked into buying something subpar for the price it's actually worth.
DO read as many reviews as you can
Before I buy, I read a selection of customer reviews to get a better idea of what it might be like to use this product. I try not to be taken in by the first few five-star reviews, but equally, I won't be put off by the odd two- or three-star. With reviews, it's about quantity just as much as quality.
DON'T rush to buy an early deal
We've still got a few weeks to go until Presidents' Day and I'd expect to see prices fall further as we approach the big day. Unless you've already got your eye on a trending product that you're afraid will sell out, I'd encourage you to hold off and wait for more deals to drop.
