Google's yearly I/O tech conference took place last week with the US firm launching plenty of shiny new hardware along with some very clever software that's harnessing the power of AI. Perhaps the pick of the bunch is an incredible change that's coming to Gmail in the coming months that will actually write whole messages for you.
Called Smart Reply, this function can see exactly what emails have been sent to you and craft the perfect response without you bashing away on the keyboard.
All you have to do is give a very brief description of how you'd like to reply and it will do the rest.
Once the US tech giant's Artificial Intelligence has written the message, you can then change the context with a simple drop-down menu offering the option to make things more elaborate, formal or shorter.
If this upgrade is as good as Google's demo it will save hours of typing and looks mighty impressive - if not a little scary.
Google showed off how it will work with a demonstration that featured an airline offering compensation for a flight.
A simple bar appears so you can tell the AI how you want to respond and it does the rest with the whole process taking a matter of seconds.
AI content creation continues to evolve but this is the first time Google has baked such a big update into its Gmail software.
Until now, there has been the option for Gmail to make word and sentence suggestions as you type but this new Smart Reply function takes it to a whole new level.
Google hasn't revealed when it will roll out but hopefully, more news will be announced soon.
Along with that Gmail upgrade, Google has also announced the launch of new products including a foldable phone, called the Pixel Fold, plus a budget call maker - the Pixel 7a - that cost just £449.
There’s also a new Pixel Tablet on it way that features a unique dock that transforms it into a smart speaker.
