With Covid-19 continuing to be a serious issue and the NHS planning for resurgence of the virus this winter, public health figures are urging those eligible to get their Covid-19 booster vaccine.
As part of this, figures including Professor Neil Watson - who leads the Covid-19 Vaccination programme in the North East and North Cumbria - are to take part in a question and answer session with ChronicleLive on November 22. Taking place at 6pm and streamed on Facebook Live, the event will see reporter Daniel Hall put questions to the experts.
The idea is to address concerns people may have about the vaccines - and ensure the public has up-to-date information about how to access the vaccines, safety, and who is most in need. The latest vaccine is bivalent - meaning it tackles both the Omicron Covid-19 strain and the earlier variation seen - and is now being given to the most vulnerable groups in our communities.

Professor Neil Watson, who is leading the Covid-19 Vaccination programme for the North East and North Cumbria said: "We expect a resurgence in both Covid and flu this winter and urge eligible people to double their defences and get protected as soon as they can to keep themselves, their families and friends safe.
"Being healthy does not reduce your risk of getting Covid-19 or flu or from passing it on, and both viruses can be serious for those who are vulnerable. We know vaccines work and they offer the best protection from becoming seriously ill and requiring hospital treatment. This is especially important at a time when our NHS services are under increased pressure."
To book a vaccine, use the National Booking Service online or call 119. Some GP Practices and community pharmacies are also offering appointments. Currently, those eligible include those who are aged 50 or over, pregnant. aged 5 and over and at high risk from Covid-19 due to a health condition or a weakened immune system. Health and care professionals and care home residents are also eligible.
ChronicleLive will collect questions from the public both ahead of an during the event though we will not be able to ask everything. To submit a question, visit https://forms.gle/dfcazt2avMoRE3i39
