Young woman who was 'loved by all' stabbed to death by 'random maniac' while working in a shop

A woman who was fatally stabbed by a man while working in a furniture store has been described as "loved by all".

Tributes are being paid to 24-year-old Brianna Kupfer who died in the shocking incident, which happened at the Croft House store in Los Angeles last Thursday.

The unknown male suspect is being described as a "random maniac" and is still at large, with police believing that he may be homeless.

He fled the scene by leaving through the back door of the shop before walking down a nearby alleyway.

Kupfer's body was found by a customer 20 minutes later, with the UCLA graduate student being pronounced dead on the scene by officials.

Dr Jennifer Botelho, who owns a chiropractors next door Croft House, told CBS that the suspect also entered her practice just moments before the fatal stabbing, detailing: “He came in and asked a couple of questions: ‘Do you do orthopaedics here?’ What kind of care we provide and then he left. So he was just here for a few minutes.”

Friends of Brianna's said that “the world has been robbed of a productive member of society – who glowed with positivity” while her father said that she was a gifted artist and listener who was “loved by all.”

A security guard who works across the road from the Croft House store told ABC News: "I see her every morning. She come in, she opens the shop. Real friendly woman.

"I saw them (the customers who found Brianna) walk out and I just see sheer terror. She was screaming like 'Oh my God, oh my God.' At that point, I was trying to make my way over. There was too much traffic. By that time, police came from everywhere. When I walked that way, you could see through the window and when I looked down, I said oh my God, that's the young lady that works at the store."
