Authorities in Bradford, England, are investigating a tragic incident in which a young woman was fatally stabbed while walking with her baby. The victim, identified as 27-year-old Kulsuma Akter from Oldham, was attacked around 3:21 p.m. on Saturday. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Akter succumbed to her injuries.
Fortunately, Akter's baby, who was with her during the attack, was unharmed. The police have confirmed that the infant is safe and receiving appropriate care.
The murder suspect has been identified as 25-year-old Habibur Masum, also from Oldham. Authorities believe that Masum and Akter were acquainted with each other. Masum was captured on CCTV footage near a bus stop shortly after the incident. A knife was recovered from the crime scene, and there are concerns that Masum may still be armed.
In addition to Masum, a 23-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly assisting in the homicide. The police are actively investigating the case and have urged the public to come forward with any information that may help locate Masum.
Describing the incident as 'absolutely tragic,' Detective Chief Inspector Stacey Atkinson expressed condolences to the victim's family and reassured the community that patrols are being conducted to provide support and reassurance. Atkinson emphasized the importance of not approaching Masum if spotted but instead contacting the authorities immediately by dialing 999.
The West Yorkshire Police are working diligently to gather more information and bring justice to the victim and her family. The local community has been deeply affected by this senseless act of violence, and efforts are being made to ensure the safety and well-being of residents in the area.
