A young woman 'needed surgery for a broken ankle and leg' after being attacked by a group of thugs during a camping trip.
The 21-year-old from Dumbarton and her partner, 23, were targeted by three men believed to be Glaswegian while camping at Glen Etive in the Highlands on July 10. The group challenged her boyfriend to a fight but when he refused, grabbed her and pushed her into the burn, causing her to break her ankle and shin.
The woman was rushed to Belford Hospital in Fort William before being transferred to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley for surgery on her leg and foot. Her boyfriend was also allegedly hit over the head with a glass bottle which left him needing stitches at the Belford Hospital, reports the Scottish Daily Express.

Bystanders called the police, but the three men ran from the scene before cops arrived. The woman said she has been left reeling from the attack and is having to get counselling to deal with nightmares.
Speaking on the condition of anonymity, she said: “I am still in shock, having nightmares and now needing counselling for my mental health because of this accident.
“We were targeted by three men who seemed out their face on drugs and drink. They were just looking for a fight off my partner and he wasn’t entertaining it so they pushed me down into the burn to get a reaction out of him.
“The three men had Glasgow accents, so they are definitely from around here."
A spokesman for Police Scotland said: “Police were called to a report of a disturbance in the Glen Etive area at around 3am on Sunday, July 10.
“Emergency services attended and a 23-year-old man and 21-year-old woman were taken by ambulance to Belford Hospital in Fort William.
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the incident and anyone with information is asked to contact police via 101 quoting incident number 0683 of Sunday, July 10, 2022.”
