A woman in her twenties was taken to Cork University Hospital after being brutally assaulted and injured while walking alone last Saturday night in Cork city.
The assault happened on Evergreen Street at 11:30 pm on Saturday the 29th, it is believed to have been a random attack - CorkBeo reports.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing, no arrests have been made yet but Gardai have said that they are "following a definite line of enquiry."
A Garda spokesperson said, "Gardaí are investigating an assault that occurred on Evergreen Street, Cork City, at approximately 11:30pm on Saturday 29th January 2022. A female in her 20s was taken to Cork University Hospital to be treated for her injuries."
"No arrests have been made at this stage of the investigation however Gardaí are following a definite line of enquiry," they added.
