Young woman, 17, attacked near Lanarkshire football pitches as cops hunt male suspect

Police are hunting a suspect who assaulted a young woman in Lanarkshire at the weekend.

The 17-year-old was attacked near to the football pitches on Dixon Street in Hamilton on Saturday night.

Cops say the area is particularly busy and are appealing to locals to help track down the person who carried out the assault.

The suspect is described as white man, aged between 20-25, around 5ft 7in tall and was wearing a light grey hooded top and blue shorts.

It happened at around 8pm on Saturday, September 24.

Dixon Street, where the incident took place, neighbours the Bent football pitches in Hamilton.

Detective Inspector Lorraine Wilson East Kilbride Police Office said: “This is a busy area and I would appeal to anyone who witnessed this assault take place or has information that will assist our enquiry.

“If you noticed anyone matching this description please get in touch with police.

“Any drivers with dash-cam footage who passed the area around that time and observed the man and woman are also asked to contact officers. “
