Young team of IAS and IPS officers at the helm in new districts in Andhra Pradesh

A young team of IAS and IPS officers is at the helm in the newly carved out districts in the State.

With the number of districts increased from 13 to 26, a bunch of young IAS and IPS officers have been posted to ensure rapid development of the new districts.

Most of the IAS officers belonging to the 2013- 2014 batch have been appointed as Collectors of the new districts.

Of the 26 Collectors, only three are above the age of 50. Many young officers have been posted in the areas that pose diverse challenges.

For instance, Nishant Kumar, a 32-year-old IAS officer belonging to the 2014 batch, who was appointed Commissioner of the Guntur Municipal Corporation in January, is now the Collector of Parvatipuram Manyam district.

Similarly, 35-year-old Sumit Kumar has been appointed as Collector of Alluri Seetharama Raju district.

Interesting feature

An interesting and well thought out decision is to give postings to the spouses of the officers who are also IAS or IPS in the neighbouring districts.

For instance, A.S Dinesh Kumar and K. Vijaya have been posted as Collectors of Prakasam and Bapatla districts respectively. Ongole and Bapatla are separated by less than 50 km. Similarly, Dilli Rao and P. Prasanthi have been posted as Collectors of NTR and West Godavari districts respectively, Himanshu Shukla and Krithika Shukla as Collectors of Konaseema and Kakinada districts, and Vakul Jindal and Mallika Garg have been posted as Superintendents of Police of Bapatla and Prakasam districts.

The IAS officers belonging to the 2014 batch, who have been promoted from the State cadre, have also been given key postings. The thrust is on speedy implementation of welfare schemes, rapid development, and a thorough knowledge on local affairs, it is said.
