The Blues had little time to celebrate yet another trophy win following the Club World Cup Final, and funnily enough find themselves facing Crystal Palace once again, just as they did after winning the UEFA Super Cup at the beginning of the season.
Nevertheless, given the relentless nature of the season it will have been seven days since Chelsea last played by the time they face the Eagles, a rare luxury over the course of this term.
In fact, it's nearing a month since Thomas Tuchel's side played in the Premier League, and the Blues will be hoping to earn three points on their return to action against the Eagles.
There were some fresh faces in amongst the training ranks as the Blues squad fought for the place in the starting XI.
football.london takes a look at the latest goings on in Chelsea training below:
Stunning Harvey Vale strike
The young Chelsea star missed out on travelling to the Club World Cup but did not have to wait long until he was back among the first team ranks to help the squad prepare for the match against Palace.
The 18-year-old made quite the impression with a stunning left-footed strike.
Taking part in a shooting drill, Vale glided towards a ball passed into him on the right side of the box before opening his body up to send the ball flying into the top corner with his in-step.
Vale featured in a number of first team squads throughout January, making the bench against Liverpool, before featuring against against Chesterfield in the FA Cup and Tottenham in the Carabao Cup.
Kai Havertz call back
It's impossible to forget the monumental moment of Havertz celebrating his winning goal against Palmeiras.
After Cesar Azpilicueta's heroic captaincy to take the pressure off, the German international coolly dispatched his effort from the penalty spot to send Chelsea into raptures.
As he sprinted away, the match-winner stuck out his tongue for the world to see even that was blue. Probably due to Chelsea's in-house Blue Fuel products being used in an attempt to energise the players throughout extra time.
As the former Bayer Leverkusen star headed out to training he revealed his tongue once again, but was lacking the same pigmentation this time.
After crucial goals in the Champions League and Club World Cup finals, it's hard to see him as anything but Blue now!
Ruben Loftus-Cheek continues to train
Another player to miss out on the trip to the UAE for the Club World Cup, as the 26-year-old continued to put the work in to recover from an Achilles injury, though not on the same one he ruptured in 2019.
The former Palace and Fulham loanee returned to training on Monday and has continued to work with the first team since having been pictured with the group on Thursday.
Dylan Williams trains
Chelsea's first signing of the January transfer window was involved in training too, though he may try to forget his recorded impact.
As the squad completed their rondos, Kenedy managed to place the ball between the 17-year-old's legs for his pass to Thiago Silva.
The drill of course continued, and Romelu Lukaku seemed to have a special ability of provoking nutmegs as was next to Kenedy in that instance, while he was the recipient of the pass when Hakim Ziyech felt victim and the nearest onlooker when Ross Barkley took Antonio Rudiger to task.
However, Williams got some valuable experience in a prestigous group that also included Marcos Alonso, Ziyech and N'Golo Kante.
The Blues signed the defender from Derby in a bid to shore up their short at left-back within the development squad, a position where the Blues have struggled in the first team since Ben Chilwell's injury at the end of 2021.
Looking at the footage from Cobham, he appears to have been awarded the No.76 for the first team.
Other players from the under 23s that participated in training were Lewis Hall, Jude Soonsup-Bell and Charlie Webster.
