Young mum torn limb from limb by savage crocodile leaving her without hands or feet

A mum was tragically ripped apart and killed by a crocodile after dangling her feet in a river.

Norsihela Sayong was washing her feet in the river in the village of Tanjung Bulat, Malaysia, when the feared predator pounced and dragged her into the water on July 30.

Family members present attempted to save her as she was dragged into the depths of the river.

But tragically they were unsuccessful and her corpse was recovered the next day.

The family had gone down to the river to catch fish for dinner in the village in the Kota Kinabatangan district.

Nurul Azlan Shah Jamalludin, head of the Kinabatangan City Fire and Rescue Service, said: "After receiving the report, five rescue members were dispatched to the scene to assist with the search effort."

The 32-year-old's corpse was found mutilated the next day with no hands or feet, around half a mile away from where the devastating attack occurred.

Nurul added: "The body was found on Sunday at around 8:00am local time. We retrieved it and turned it over to the police before handing it over to the family."

Norsihela 's devastated husband Acai thanked people who had been kind to his wife during her life.

He said: "I pray that my wife and soulmate is in heaven among the believers and the pious, god willing.

"Everyone who was kind to Norsihela during her life, god will repay your good deeds with love.

"She has been buried now and is at peace. I am thankful for all the friends, relatives and fire department staff who helped to find her.

"This is a tragedy and Norsihela will be in our hearts forever."

Some villagers claimed they had seen the fearsome predator lurking before it preyed on Norishela.

A number of horrific incidents in Malaysia have been recorded.

In 2020, 14-year-old boy Ricky Ganya was collecting snails at a river bed when he was pounced upon and eaten whole.

Ricky's remains were found in a captured 15ft-long saltwater crocodile six days later when the beast was cut open as police tried to gain evidence about his disappearance.

More than happy to attack humans, a crocodile's bite is reported to be three times more powerful than that of a lion.

Estimates put deaths from crocodile attacks at around 1,000 per year and reports indicate locals in Tanjung Bulat are attempting to find and trap the reptile to prevent further attacks.
