A loving grandson who spent lockdown caring for his gran has died suddenly after collapsing at her home.
Joshua Jackson Cooper, 21, has passed away after becoming unwell on August 14, it has been confirmed. Yorkshire Live report that the young lad, from Sheffield, died due to acute appendicitis - however, his relatives say there were "no warning signs" prior to his collapse.
Joshua's heartbroken mum Jayne Cooper said her son would do anything for his family, calling him a "fun loving" and "jolly" person as she paid tribute to her son. Joshua's nan suffers from Lewy Body Dementia, and he had spent lockdown caring for her before staying with her as the pandemic continued.
He told his brother that he was feeling sick before being found collapsed on the kitchen floor of his nan's house earlier this month. Jayne's brother and her partner started compressions before paramedics arrived but he was later pronounced dead.
His mother said: “He was so into computers and gaming, he were like a little whizz kid with his technology, he would always repair them himself if they broke.
“Very fun-loving, jolly, he could be shy but he always had a smile on his face, even when he was poorly, he would be okay. He’d still smile and have a joke, he loved his little brothers and sisters even though they sometimes did his head in."
His mum said he had a bright future in gaming or technology. She said: "We were heartbroken, we wanted answers, everyone was just numb with grief, we couldn’t get our heads around what had just happened.
"He was always trying to fix things, the amount of game consoles he had. I think if he could have had a job in gaming, that’s what he would have done."
Jayne's partner's sister, Joanne, set up a GoFundMe page to help raise money for Joshua's funeral amid the ongoing cost of living crisis.
She said: “It was just a shock, I just want to help them to give them a good send off, he was only 21.”
The fundraiser has so far raised £550 of its £1,500 goal. Joshua's mum praised everyone that has donated so far.
She added: "Just want to say a big thank you because obviously a lot of them don’t know Joshua, and thank you for trying to help.”
