A young man has been seriously injured following a serious attack last night.
The 29-year-old had just left a flat on Catrine's St Germain Street when he was assaulted by a man at around 7.30pm.
The victim sustained a number of injuries to his face and body as a result and was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where medical staff describe his condition as stable.
The suspect is described as white, of a heavy build and had a dark beard. He was wearing a beanie-style hat and a dark denim jacket.
Officers have been making door-to-door enquiries and checking CCTV in the area.
Now police are appealing for information.
Detective Constable Graham Cuthill, Police Scotland, said: “The motive for the attack has yet to be established. From our enquiries, the suspect walked off after the attack towards Wood Street.
"We would ask anyone in the area, especially motorists with dash-cam footage, or anyone who has information that may assist officers with their investigation, to contact police via 101.
"Please quote reference number 3272 of Saturday, February 4, when calling. Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
