Young man dies suddenly at Scots shopping centre as emergency services rush to scene

Emergency services rushed to a Scots shopping centre following the sudden death of a young man. The Scottish Ambulance Service and Police Scotland raced to the scene at Union Square in Aberdeen at around 11.50am on Friday, September 2.

A 20-year-old man could not be saved and was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Police Scotland have launched a probe into the shock death. There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding his death, which is being treated as unexplained.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers were called to Union Square, Aberdeen, around 11.50am on Friday, 2 September, following the sudden death of a 20-year-old man.

“The death is currently being treated as unexplained although there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.

“A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”

Union Square confirmed the incident and said they were assisting police with enquiries. A spokesperson told the Press and Journal : “Our thoughts are with their friends and family at this very difficult time.

“We can confirm that an incident occurred here (Union Square) and despite the best efforts of the emergency services the visitor sadly passed away. We are continuing to assist them with their enquiries.”
