A man has died after being hit by a car in Birmingham in the early hours of this morning.
It is believed the man, who was in his 20s, was a pedestrian and was hit by a passing car, which left the scene.
In a statement, West Midlands Police said they were called to Soho Road at the junction with Thornhill Road in Handsworth just before 4am this morning, where a man was found with serious head injuries, consistent with being hit by a car.
Sadly, the man was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later. His family are being supported by specialist officers.
Detective Sergeant Paul Hughes, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “We are in the early stages of our investigation and our thoughts are with the family of this man at this very tragic time.

“I am asking for anyone who saw what happened to get in touch with us as soon as possible.
“Perhaps you saw the lead up to the collision, or the aftermath. We are keen to hear from anyone who has information.”
Soho Road has been closed between Villa Road and Grove Lane as enquiries continue.
