Young Lanarkshire woman remembered as 'truly beautiful girl inside and out' after tragic road crash

A 20-year-old woman who tragically died in a road crash in Lanarkshire has been named locally as Beth Damer.

Tributes have poured in for Beth since the horror incident in Biggar on Saturday afternoon, March 12.

She was sadly pronounced dead at the scene at around 4.30pm after the collision on the A72.

The incident involved a black BMW M135 which was travelling towards Biggar when it left the road.

The driver, a 26-year-old man, survived the crash but was taken to Wishaw General for treatment.

Friends and loved ones of Beth have been left in shock following her sudden passing.

A former colleague of Beth's told Lanarkshire Live : "I'm still in absolute shock to be honest.

"I used to work with Beth. She was honestly one of the loveliest people you'd ever meet, it's so tragic, she's so young."

One pal led tributes on social media, saying: "I can't believe what I'm reading. Absolutely tragic to say the least.

"Truly a beautiful girl inside and out. Will always remember how caring and thoughtful you were towards everyone.

"That personality of yours was one of a kind, always so cheery and smiling.

"Absolutely devastated and heartbroken for your family. Can't imagine the pain they must be going through.

"Rest in peace gorgeous girl."

Others also paid lovely tributes to the 20-year-old.

One said: "Rest in peace my beautiful girl Beth you will be so missed."

While another added: "Rest in peace Beth, you are going to be missed by so many."

A third told: "Rest in peace Beth you were one in a million".

More kind words flooded in including: "RIP Beth, took far too young"; and: "RIP Beth, heaven's gained another angel. You will be sorely missed by all."

Another friend added: "Rest easy. Such a lovely girl taken too soon."

The road where the crash happened was closed for around nine hours and re-opened around 1.30am on Sunday, March 13.

Police Scotland are now appealing for information following the fatal incident.

Sergeant John Houston told Lanarkshire Live : “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of those involved at this time.

“Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of what happened and we are appealing to anyone who may have information that could help to get in touch.

“I would ask anyone who was driving in the area around the time of the crash to get in touch. I would also appeal to anyone with dash-cam footage which may assist to contact us.”

Anyone with any information in relation to the incident is asked to contact police on 101.
