Young girls reportedly threatened and robbed by man armed with screwdriver in Belfast

A man armed with a screwdriver allegedly robbed two young girls in the York Street area of Belfast city on Thursday.

Shortly after 8am on Thursday morning, the culprit demanded money from the girls and subsequently grabbed one of their phones, a Galaxy A12 model with a pink and grey case.

He then took off in the direction of the Hanna Court area, Belfast Live reported.

In a statement, PSNI Detective Sergeant McVeagh said: "The suspect is described as of slim build, wearing a dark coloured jacket with the hood up and dark coloured tracksuit bottoms.

"The PSNI said it was a busy morning and are appealing for any witnesses to please come forward with dash ca footage or to contact them on 101 quoting reference number 269 09/02/23."
