Young driver hospitalised following one-vehicle crash in South Lanarkshire

Police are appealing for information after a 22-year-old man was hospitalised with serious injuries following a one-vehicle crash.

The incident happened on the B7078 between Kirkmuirhill and Lesmahagow at around 6.35pm yesterday (March 8).

That saw a Red Vauxhall Corsa leave the road, with the driver taken to Wishaw General with serious injuries, where he remains.

The road was closed until around 3.30am this morning to allow for investigation. Officers are now appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

Sgt. Gemma Blackadder told Lanarkshire Live: “I’d like to thank those members of the public who stopped and helped at the scene, and for those who have already spoken with police.

“Our enquiries into this incident remain ongoing, and I would continue to ask for anyone who was in the area and may have seen the crash, or the Corsa involved, or have possible dashcam footage from the area, to please come forward."

Information can be shared with Police Scotland via 101, or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
