A young builder was killed when he plunged 600ft from a Snowdonia peak during a climbing trip with friends, an inquest heard.
Jack Carne, 23, suffered multiple injuries after a piece of rock gave way while he was scaling Y Gribin. Mountain rescuers said he had been "extremely unfortunate" during the fall on February 4.
A coroner heard Jack - described as "the nicest lad you'll ever meet" - was with two friends, Mathew Belcher and Brendan Smith, and the tragedy occurred as they made their way to the summit of Glyder Fawr from Llyn Ogwen. His friends, who were rescued by Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Team, raised the alarm.

Jack's body was found by the rescuers but due to poor weather conditions it could not be recovered until the following day, North Wales Live reports. Senior coroner for North Wales east and central, John Gittins, gave "multiple crush injuries" as a provisional cause of death at an inquest which opened today (Monday).
In the days which followed Jack's death his friend Connor Lindley said: "He will be missed by many he was never not smiling, he was there for everyone whenever anyone needed him. He will be missed by everyone he ever set eyes on."
Devastated friends described Jack, a builder from Barnsley, as a "true gentleman" and the "nicest lad you'll ever meet" after a £15,000 fundraiser was set up in his memory. The funds will be used to help his family who are "suffering so bad at the moment due to this tragedy", the GoFundMe reads.
A full inquest would take place later in the year, the coroner confirmed.
