Young Boys manager sends Celtic warning after Carlo Ancelotti meeting

Young Boys manager Giorgio Contini has sent Celtic a warning ahead of Wednesday's Champions League clash after meeting up with Carlo Ancelotti.

Contini was only appointed the Swiss side's new boss last month and hasn't got off to the perfect start in Bern, having drawn 0-0 with bottom-of-the-table side Winterthur in his opening competitive game in charge.

The Italian, however, recently revealed that he has received a helping hand from legendary manager Carlo Ancelotti ahead of Wednesday's mammoth meeting at Celtic Park: "I visited Carlo Ancelotti during the time where I wasn't working in football," he said (RecordSport).

"What impressed me most about Ancelotti is the way he leads a team. It was important for me to see that on the pitch and it confirms the values that I also want to live by.

"People come before football. If the focus is on people, the footballer will also work. Empathy has a big influence on the performance of athletes. And the next few weeks in the league and the Champions League will show whether his methods have worked with me!"

Celtic know victory against Contini's men on Wednesday would all but seal their place in the knockout rounds of European football's premier club competition for the first time in over a decade.

The Italian gaffer, though, wants his side to cause the Scottish Premiership champions problems.

He said: "At Celtic, we will try to be more creative when we have possession. I would like to see that. But I know that it won't happen overnight.

"That's why we first have to rely on our strengths and boost our self-confidence with positive results.

"Pressing is part of YB, and we don't want to shake this DNA. We want to be a team that presses, that is good at counter-pressing and switching play.

"This game also suits the squad, which combines fast players and those with a lot of physical presence. We will certainly stick to that."

Brendan Rodgers' men warmed up for the visit of the Swiss champions with a dominant 2-1 victory over Kilmarnock in the Scottish Cup on Saturday. They booked their place in the competition's fifth round as a result of the victory, with the draw for said stage taking place tonight.
