A nine-year-old boy in Russia suffered horrific facial injuries after being attacked by two huskies while on his way to help his father. The terrifying incident occurred when Valya Korolev, who was bringing his father a broom to sweep snow off his car, was ambushed by the dogs. His father, Valentin Korolev, 48, was unaware of the brutal attack until neighbors rushed to inform him.
Valya was rushed to a hospital in Krasnodar, where doctors were desperately working to reattach parts of his face, including his nose, which had been torn off. Tragically, fragments of the boy’s face were later discovered in the stomachs of the dogs. These fragments were swiftly flown to the hospital via helicopter to give doctors a chance to attempt reattachment, reported Daily Record.
Valentin Korolev, speaking of the devastating incident, said: “It’s hard, it’s very hard. My son is lying in [hospital in] Krasnodar right now. He has no face, really no face. The dogs ate him from his eyes to his lower lip. I honestly can’t say anything. The fragments of the face that we extracted from the dogs are being sent by helicopter to Krasnodar”, according to the Mirror.
The boy’s father recounted the horrific moment he learned of the attack, stating, “My son was coming down to me, bringing me a broom to sweep snow off the car. He didn’t make it, I waited and waited. Then the neighbours told me ‘Run here, the huskies attacked your son and tore his face off’.” Emergency services were called, and authorities arrived at the scene.
In a deeply troubling turn, Valentin complained that law enforcement initially ignored his request to recover facial parts from the two huskies, which were owned by his neighbours in Lesnoye village. A source confirmed, “The boy is in a grave condition. He has undergone his first surgery. If he survives, he will need years of plastic surgery due to this dog attack.”
This attack is the third such incident in Russia in recent days, highlighting the rising concerns over dog attacks. Earlier, a nine-year-old girl was killed by a pack of stray dogs in a separate incident. Reports suggest that regional governments are struggling to control dangerous animals due to a lack of funding, with resources diverted to support Vladimir Putin’s war in Ukraine.
In another harrowing case, a video emerged of nine-year-old Veronika Kurilenko being surrounded by stray dogs in Stavropol. Despite attempts to help, she was tragically attacked and killed. In Yekaterinburg, a Rottweiler also attacked a mother and her five-year-old son, highlighting the ongoing threat posed by dangerous animals.
