Young boy rushed to hospital in critical condition after car hits bike at Moana

A 10-year-old boy was rushed to hospital last night after being hit by a car in Adelaide's south.

The boy was riding a bike when he was struck by a Ford hatchback on Cobalt Road at Moana, police said.

Emergency services including paramedics were called to the scene about 7:30pm.

"The 10-year-old boy from Moana was rushed to the Women's and Children's Hospital in a critical condition, where he actually remains this morning," Senior Constable Gen Cullinan told ABC Radio Adelaide.

"We're asking if anybody witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage to please contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000."

Police said the driver of the car, a 25-year-old Moana man, was not injured but was also taken to hospital for crash blood tests.

Major Crash investigators attended the scene to examine the circumstances.

Meanwhile, two drivers have lost their licences after their cars were allegedly detected travelling at 170kph at Waterloo Corner — one of them with two children in the vehicle.

Police said the Modbury man and Munno Para woman — both aged 24 and known to each other — were travelling 60kph above the speed limit on the Northern Expressway about 7:30pm.

The woman had her two children in the car at the time, police said, and both drivers were fined $1,850.

A Brahma Lodge man was also arrested after a crash on Main North Road yesterday afternoon.

Police said the 28-year-old was spotted driving at speed about 4:30pm, and registration checks on the Holden sedan indicated it may have been linked to break-ins at St Agnes and Gulfview Heights.

The car hit two cars on Main North Road and the driver allegedly ran off but was arrested nearby, and was charged with dangerous driving and weapons offences.
