Young boy, 6, hospitalised after being struck by car in Co Tipperary


Gardaí are appealing for witnesses after a young boy was struck by a car in Co Tipperary over the weekend.

The six-year-old was at first brought to Tipperary University Hospital in Clonmel but was later taken to Temple Street Children's Hospital in Dublin, following the collision.

The injuries he sustained are not believed to be life threatening, gardaí have revealed.

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of the collision at approximately 6:20pm on Saturday, March 25, in the Carrowclough area of Tipperary Town.

The road was cordoned off by emergency services at the time for a technical examination, which was conducted by forensic crash investigators.

A garda spokesperson stated: "A car collided with a male child in the course of this incident.

"The child was conveyed to Temple Street Hospital in Co Dublin for treatment of non-life threatening injuries sustained as a result of this collision."

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Tipperary Town Garda Station on 062 806 70, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.

Gardai are particularly interested in speaking with any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam).

The garda spokesperson added: "The road involved in this incident is currently open for use."
