You Will Not Believe How Much This Lowly Scooter Can Tow

As many of you know, I live in the mountains of Utah.

Here, where the roads bleed from pavement to gravel, the wildlife is abundant and often darts into the road, and where ruggedness is truly the one sticking point to most car purchases, there are tons of heavily capable full-size pickups to do all manner of things. But like most pickups, they're mostly used for trips to the grocery store, and I rarely see any heavy-duty pickups actually doing heavy-duty pickup truck things. I've done more with our lowly Honda Ridgeline than most Ford Raptors.

Despite my wanton mechanical abandon, and lack of funds for said Raptor or HD truck, nearly everyone in India puts my ability to stack, pile, and tow things in my "fake truck" Ridgeline to shame. And they absolutely humiliate those folks with big boy trucks, as evidenced by this recent video that went viral of a scooter—yes, a scooter—towing what appears to be the entirety of a Costco aisle behind it.

Check it out.

OK, so what they appear to be hauling are empty plastic barrels, water jugs, and that's about it. But even so, that's like a 125cc scooter attached to a truly massive trailer, loaded at least 10- to 15 feet high, and probably 30 feet long. That's still sooooooo much weight and unruly cargo, that I'd hesitate to even attempt it in a full-size truck. Yet, these folks are like, "Hold my beer." Or whatever the equivalent is in India.

Honestly, props. This is just straight-up impressive, to say the least.

I'd love to know how this all came about. What was the thinking behind attempting this tow, if there even was any, or if this is just too normal to even cause any second thoughts? Clearly, someone thought it was noteworthy since they had a camera recording the whole situation. But is that because they've just never seen it done? If anyone has any other recordings of similar situations, I'd love to see them, as it'd go to whether or not this is super common and whether or not every HD truck owner needs to up their games ASAP.

Guts. Glory. Ram? Built Ford Tough? Like a Rock? Nah. Scooters Be Wildin'.
