'You take note of that' - Roy Keane slams Cristian Romero as Manchester United get last laugh vs Tottenham

Manchester United got the last laugh over Cristian Romero, with Roy Keane slamming the Tottenham midfielder for his reaction during the clash at Old Trafford.

Cristiano Ronaldo stole the headlines as his hat-trick earned United a crucial 3-2 win over Spurs. The victory gives the Reds a huge boost in their fight to finish fourth in the Premier League, having beaten one of their closest rivals.

Ronaldo gave United the lead in spectacular fashion, thundering the ball home from 25 yards, before Harry Kane equalised from the spot. The Portuguese superstar then put United back ahead before the break as he latched onto Jadon Sancho’s cross from the left.

United were pegged back again in the second half as Harry Maguire turned Sergio Reguilon’s ball into his own net. His blushes would be saved by Ronaldo though, with the 37-year-old heading home for his hat-trick on a record-breaking night as he became the highest goal-scorer of all time.

But it was a moment after Spurs’ second equaliser that caught Keane’s attention, and left a sour taste in the former United captain’s mouth. Having seen Maguire turn into his own net, Romero openly shouted and laughed in the defender’s face as he lay on the ground.

United would of course go on to get the last laugh through Ronaldo’s brilliance, and deal a huge blow to Spurs’ top four hopes in the process. And Keane believes Romero’s reaction could well have played a part in the hosts fighting their way back in front.

Reacting to the incident, Keane told Sky Sports: “Not good. No, no, no. You get no luck for that. When you’re a player you take note, don’t worry. You take note of that.”

United move back into fourth following their win, having been overtaken by Arsenal following their derby defeat last weekend. The Gunners will have the chance to reclaim fourth against Leicester on Sunday, with Mikel Arteta’s side also holding three games in hand beyond that.
