'You're a coach as well?' - Van Bronckhorst delivers one-liner over Rangers selection poser

'You're a coach as well?' - Van Bronckhorst delivers one-liner over Rangers selection poser

GIOVANNI van Bronckhorst hit back with a quick-fire one-liner after being quizzed on Rangers selection decisions ahead of clashes with Hibs and PSV.

Rangers take on Hibs tomorrow in Scottish Premiership action before focus shifts back to European matters with the Champions League play-off second leg in Eindhoven.

And with a packed schedule of matches, Van Bronckhorst was this morning asked about possible squad rotation on Sky Sports.

Reporter Luke Shanley asked whether too many changes could impact Ibrox momentum and Van Bronckhorst admitted it could - but not until after a cheeky one-liner.

Shanley had said: "Do you have to make sure that you don't make too many changes so you can keep that momentum going?"

To which, Van Bronckhorst quickly replied with a smirk: "Is it, yeah? That's good. You're a coach as well?"

Shanley remained professional after the light-hearted jibe as he shared the joke before asking again: "No, no. Just saying is that the case? You tell me."

Van Bronckhorst then admitted he agreed with Shanley's question as he explained his thoughts on team selection for the upcoming fixtures.

He said: "Obviously you want to win every game you play. I think now because we play Tuesday, Wednesday it gives you a little bit more time to prepare for the weekend.

"Of course when you play Thursday and Sunday it's always two days in between and now we have one day extra which gives more rest for my players.

"But you're right, you always have to make sure you see how your team is doing, the players physically and mentally and take the 11 from that position."

While Van Bronckhorst hinted at possible rotation for tomorrow's match, he rebuffed any suggestion of difficulties arising from the Euro and domestic fixture congestion.

He added: "No, I don't think so. It's a period we are used to and playing a lot of games with the games in the league between European games.

"We had it last season, now we have the same so I think we have a good squad to cope with these games. So we will be ready for tomorrow."
