You & only you with McAfee Privacy & Identity Guard

A professional woman browses her handheld device next to her laptop.

How many accounts have you opened online? It’s probably a lot more than you think.

The average internet user has a massive 240 account name/password combinations out there in cyberspace.

This can include anything from create-and-quit accounts for prize draws and special offers, to simple newsletter subscriptions, all the way up to daily essentials like bank accounts and software licenses.

We all know the importance of keeping our online banking secure, but even the most trivial accounts leave fragments that can be assembled into a convincing facsimile of your online self.

McAfee Privacy & Identity Guard can prevent this.

January 28th is Data Privacy Day, the best day of the year to discuss data privacy issues.

Where once computer viruses were the big internet bogeyman, these days data breaches and the various degrees of identity theft they can lead to are a far bigger concern for the typical internet user.

Modern operating systems now come with anti-virus software built-in, so McAfee Privacy & Identity Guard does not include anti-virus software, and focuses solely on securing your online accounts.

It’s a device agnostic solution too, so there’s no need to install it across all your devices. Your entire online life is secured by a single app, whether you run it on your desktop, laptop, tablet or smartphone.

So, how does it work?

First and foremost, McAfee uses AI-powered scam protection to detect threats before they even get to you, with powerful, ever-evolving algorithms identifying suspect urls in emails and texts, and flagging them up wherever you may be exposed to them.

But that’s just the first line of defense.

The suite also proactively monitors up to 60 pieces of info that could potentially identify you, sending you an alert if they’re found on the dark web.

So if there’s a database out there that’s connected the dots between your mother’s maiden name, your date of birth and your email address, you’ll know about it.

It doesn’t stop there.

The Personal Data Cleanup tool scans over 40 high-risk data broker sites (also known as People Search Sites) for your personal info and works to remove it for you, this can also help reduce those annoying spam calls we all receive.

You’ll also receive a monthly report of any and all accounts you’ve set up online. As we’ve seen there are a lot more than most people think.

With this info at your fingertips you can delete anything you no longer use and help keep the associated info out of the public domain.

Taylor Swift will be touring again eventually, so you don’t need accounts with all those ticket resellers.

Track and remove all your digital footprints, all from the palm of your hand.
