"You can't get rid of me" Piers Morgan claims GMB poll has helped him to "get a pay rise"

Piers Morgan bragged to viewers watching Good Morning Britain that they won't be able to get rid of him despite a Twitter poll calling for his removal from the show.

The outspoken TV anchor has made headlines over recently after GMB tweeted a poll asking followers to vote on whether they want Piers to be fired or not.

It comes after a Change.org was created over the weekend calling for "Piers Morgan to be removed from Good Morning Britain" due to his views on non-binary gender during an on-air rant last month.

So far the ITV show's Twitter poll has received a staggering 482,270 votes, with 40 per cent of followers wanting the 54-year-old to stay while 60 per cent want him out.

But despite the results, Piers has actually confirmed that the poll has helped him to get a pay rise.

Earlier on today's show, he told co-host Susanna Reid: "Here's the thing, I think they genuinely think they're going to get rid of me and that's what makes this all the funnier.

"You're not going to get rid of me." He bragged.

He claims the poll has actually played a part in helping him become 'the most talked about presenter in the world' over the past few days.

He continued: "I don't think they're really thought this through, they think by making me trend worldwide for two days that is a way to get rid of me.

"But let me tell you what you've done, you've helped me get a pay rise."

"So cheers, cheers everybody."

Besides GMB's Twitter poll and the Change.org campaign calling for Piers to be removed, there is also another campaign doing the rounds.

Titled "Keep Piers on GMB", the latest petition is urging people to vote for Piers to stay on the show due to his "common sense approach to life."

The "remove" campaign has reached 22,309 signatures, while 46,288 people currently back Piers' role on the programme.
