Private cinema pods where you can stream your favourite films or box sets from the comfort of a king-size bed are now open for business in Cardiff. The idea behind family-run business Cosy Cinema originally started in Sian and John Colderley's back garden during lockdown but now, after going viral on TikTok, has expanded to Cardiff.
The original Cosy Cinema pod site in Dinas Powys operates from the back garden of the husband and wife duo where guests can stay overnight and stream their favourite films, box sets, or sporting events. Starting out with just one pod, which they advertise on AirBnb, the business has attracted millions of views on TikTok and expanded to three pods.
Now, the Cosy Cinema has six pods open for business in the centre of Cardiff. Based at Cardiff Caravan Park on Fields Park Road, near Sophia Gardens, the pods come with a king-size bed, heating, and air conditioning along with a 92-inch screen. Guests can log into their own Netflix accounts and other streaming services such as Disney+, Prime, Sky TV and YouTube.

The pod has an honesty fridge stocked with goodies, and offers a cosy combo made up of drinks and sweet treats, or guests can order takeaways to the site. Gaming fans can also can also log into their PS4 account and the new pods also allow people to bring their Nintendo Switch to connect to play games. The pods are also available to rent for three-hour showings for up to four adults or two adults and two children.
The family-run business started just over a year ago, celebrating its anniversary in May this year. After gaining millions of views on TikTok, the pods have attracted visitors from all across the UK, with visitors coming from as far as Glasgow to enjoy the private viewing experience. Sian said that one of the pods was even used as a location for a proposal.
Guests can either book Bundle One for £115 (a stay from 7.30pm until 10am the next day) or Bundle Two for £135 (a stay from 5pm until 11.30am the next day).
