You can rent iconic ‘Tram Taylor’ flat - but under one very important condition

There’s been a new development in the Mancunian ‘Love Story’ that centres around a cardboard cut-out of pop singer Taylor Swift which means YOU could be the new owner.

This Taylor Swift sensation went viral earlier this year after the owner announced their imminent move with numerous outcries that the singer herself remain in the property to carry on cheering passersby on their commute.

But comedian Red Redmond, didn’t want to be the ‘Anti-Hero’ and assured fans that they wouldn’t leave a ‘Blank Space’ in the window - so are now renting out the Castlefield flat under one VERY important non-negotiable condition. Taylor stays.

Red, 32, has lived in the Water Street flat for 10 years, and brought the cutout of the American pop sensation home on the train after a night out at The Leadmill, in Sheffield, back in 2017.

Ever since, the 2D figure has become an institution for thousands of people who pass the landmark on the metrolink when travelling between Cornbrook at the city centre.

The apartment is now up for rent on the Reeds Rains website, and for those hoping to make it their new pad will need to be willing to cohabit with the famous face.

As well as taking good care of the cardboard cutout, you’ll probably have to deal with the fame of being the new owner, too, as Red often was tagged in tweets as Tram Taylor went viral from time to time.

The two-bed flat has been listed as the ‘iconic Tram Taylor apartment’, and could be yours for £1,050 per month.

The property itself offers two double bedrooms, an en suite shower room, and main bathroom, as well as a ‘light and airy’ open-plan lounge and kitchen, with a balcony that overlooks the waterside. Inside has been left unfurnished - except for Taylor, of course -so that the new tenants can ‘create their own personal space’.

In the listing Reeds Rains makes it clear that Taylor is to stay put, adding: “Be the first to call Tram Taylor your new housemate (she must stay in place) and join in on the online Manchester sensation that has been providing tram commuters happiness each morning!”

Over the years, the replica pop singer took a bit of a hammering and became ‘busted’, the Shake It Off star losing her legs to sun damage. Red recently replaced Tram Taylor with a brand new lifesize figure, but there was no ‘Bad Blood’ about the switcheroo, with commuters just happy to see her back in her rightful spot.

Red previously told the Manchester Evening News that they’d had ‘so much interest’ from people who wanted to rent the flat and keep Tram Taylor - so we’ve no doubt the estate agents will also be inundated with calls to become housemates with the singer.

Red added: “I am very happy that she’s become a part of people’s lives for so long. I aim to do everything I can so she can stay. It’s been nice to see people speak about her, every year she seems to bring a lot of joy to people.”
