An animal shelter is offering a special service for dissatisfied lovers this Valentine's Day - the chance to name a cat litter box after your ex. The Animal Friends and Humane Society, in Hamilton, Ohio, America, is asking for $5 (£4.13) donations to buy new litter boxes for their cats.
And in return, they'll write your ex's name on it so when their felines come to do their business, it lands all over them. A statement reads: "Do you have a cr*ppy ex? Don’t spend this Valentine's Day down in the dumps! Instead, cheer yourself up while making a difference for animals in need!
"For a $5 donation we will write your ex’s name in a litter box and give it to the cats, to let them do what they do best!"
The animal shelter is accepting donations from now until February 12, and on Valentine’s Day we will post a video on Facebook showcasing all of the names they receive in the litter boxes.
But if you want to up the ante even more, San Antonio Zoo, in Texas, America, is offering people the chance to name a cockroach after their ex and watch it be fed to one of the animals on the big day.
Costing $5 (£4.13), their 'Cry Me a Cockroach' event is being held at San Antonio Zoo and will be livestreamed on Facebook.
Anyone who buys a cockroach also receives a social media certificate - meaning you can tag your former lover in the video.
The zoo said on its website: "Back by popular demand!
"San Antonio Zoo returns with the perfect remedy for your broken heart with our second annual ‘Cry Me a Cockroach!’ fundraising event.
"You will be able to symbolically name a cockroach after your ex, and we will serve it up as an enrichment treat to one of our animals for only $5.
"If your ex was a snake, you can name a pre-frozen rat after them, and we will feed it to a reptile for $25!
"New for 2021, you can also symbolically purchase a herbivore option for those roommates who never pick up after themselves or for the people you’ve been stuck with in quarantine for $5, and we will feed them to one of our vegetarian animals!
"On Valentine’s Day, February 14th, we will be showing our ‘Cry Me a Cockroach!’ feeding frenzy on our social media pages!
"Birds, reptiles, and mammals from San Antonio Zoo will join in on this feast."
People have until February 13 to submit their entries - and first names only will be shown.
