You can now book stays in a WWI bunker used by Britain's first ever sniper unit

History buffs and war enthusiasts can experience what it was like to live on the WWI front line - without the hovering threat of imminent death.

For just £75 a night you could experience a taste of how Tommies lived thanks to this bunker for rent sited in original 1914 British trenches.

This historic campsite features a reconstruction of Sergeant Taylor’s Bunker with a tin roof and surrounding sandbags.

Sergeant Taylor was an officer in the Lovat Scouts, a British Army unit formed during the Second Boer War who were the first military unit known to wear ghillie suits.

In 1916 they formally became the British Army’s first sniper unit, then known as sharpshooters.

Dreamy Hollows is a 7.5 acre site comprising of an original World War One training trench network, dug in 1915 by the soldiers of the Lovat Scouts.

“A peaceful and idyllic woodland campsite in North Norfolk, Dreamy Hollow is the perfect setting in which to wind back time,” reads the listing.

“So it's fitting, perhaps, that you'll discover Sgt Taylor's Bunker here, a reconstructed World War One officer's bunker that allows you to imagine what life might have been like in the trenches, all those years ago.

“You can arrange a tour of this fascinating network, and the Lovat Scouts memorial, as part of your stay, or simply sip a welcome cuppa made from your bunker's copper kettle, and immerse yourselves in its unique, rustic character.”

The bunker sleeps up to four guests, requiring campers to bring their own sleeping bags.

It comes with a private toilet and shower, a table, wood burner and copper kettle.

“After a sound night's sleep in your bunk, you'll find there's plenty to see and do in the local area,” reads the listing.

“If you're staying on-site, there's an archery range to help you while away some time.

“There's a serene and comforting atmosphere that promises to relax you, as you light the wood-burner and get lost in conversation by its gentle evening glow.”

From £70 a night, this makes a unique Christmas present or holiday stay.
