You can hire an Airbnb in the Mexican jungle with its own private cenote

A completely private Mayan villa hidden in the jungle along with its own natural pool can be yours for the night.

Nuuku sits a 35 minute drive from Cancun International Airport in Mexico, but is a world away from the bustling Spring Break resort in terms of atmosphere.

The Airbnb, made up of six modern Mayan villas, is submerged deep in the tropical jungle which changes as the seasons go by.

New flowers and trees blossom in different parts of the year, while the chance of bumping into types of jungle animals rises and falls with the seasons.

Thick layers of trees separate the five acre estate from the rest of the world, meaning you can completely disconnect from whatever you've left outside.

The most intriguing part of Nuuku is that it has its own private cenote - a sinkhole formed when limestone bedrock collapses and groundwater floods in.

The deep blue-green water is surrounded by a human made ledge to clamber onto or jump off of, and a series of trees to provide some shade from the intense Mexican sun.

The chance to bath in a cenote in private is a rare one, as the stunning rock formations tend to be a big draw for tourists and those learning about their place in Mayan culture.

Historically conotes were a crucial source of water for people living in the area, and were used as a place to make sacrificial offerings.

Visitors to the Nuuku will also be treated to a villa with no shortage of luxury trimmings.

Breakfast is served daily before visitors have the chance to relax by the outdoor swimming pool, in the hot tub or on a hammock.

The villa's porches all look out onto the jungle, meaning you can spend the afternoon looking for a member of the local jaguar population.

The homes are air-conditioned and fitted with wifi, and staff are on hand to whip up a four course dinner at guests' request.

"Nuuku is surrounded by the Mayan jungle in which we are exposed to nature in all its splendor, to the flora and fauna that live in it," the Airbnb listing reads.

There is also a separate pool (AirBnB)

"That is our great virtue as a tropical oasis and that is why our guests decide to book with us, always seeking to live the magical experience of staying in the Mayan jungle with all that it entails.

"In each season, the climate, flora and fauna change. The presence of wild animals and the natural noises of the jungle can be appreciated all day and sometimes all night -depending on the season- so there is a potential of natural wild animal noise that can be annoying for some guests specially during rainy season. Be aware."

The hosts warn that those who are sensitive to high humidity may not want to book it, due to the climate in the jungle.
