The summer holidays are fast approaching and while we have been having positively tropical weather of late, you may still want to get that holiday feel by travelling abroad - although you'd be forgiven if a staycation was more your thing. Now usually if you even want to think about going away in August, you'll most likely be met with ridiculous prices that will cause you to recoil - especially in the cost of living crisis we are currently experiencing.
However, your bargain summer holiday plans may not be as far away as you think as easyJet is running a one-way ticket to Alicante in Spain for less than £25 from Bristol Airport. That's less than a single way ticket to London via GWR!
For £21.99, you can swap the rain, wind and cold for the sea, sun and sangria without breaking the bank if you fly on Monday, August 28 (as of Tuesday, July 4).

The popular seaside resort of Benidorm is only about half an hour away and the stunning picturesque village of Altea, too, is just a short trip on public transport.
The flight time is only around 2h 25m which is hardly any time at all and once you're there, there's so much to do that'll keep you entertained for days. Here are just a few things.
Santa Bárbara Castle
This stunning castle dates back to the 9th century and sit atop Mount Benacantil. It overlooks the stunning white sandy coastline of the Costa Blanca and gives an incredible view of the port city in all its glory. To soak up even more of Spain's history, you can book a ticket to the Plaza de Toros Alicante - aka the bullring. While it is still used occasionally for bullfighting, it is mostly used as a concert and festival hall now. Or marvel at some of the city's amazing museums.
Stunning beaches
Crystal clear seas that are warm and don't make you wince when you dip your toe in and white stretches of sand, this city gives an amazing balance of vibrant city life and relaxing beach paradise. Sunbathe on the lush Playa del Postiguet or travel the short distance to San Juan Playa for a more secluded beach day.
Beautiful walks
In this city - especially near the seafront - many things are within walking distance. Pass through the beautiful and historical squares (plazas) of the old town - one of which houses the Cocatedral de Sant Nicolau de Bari d'Alacant - marvelling at the colourful 12-storey buildings adorned with plants and flowers or take a stroll down La Rambla before admiring the mosaic Passeig Esplanada d'Espanya as you meander past the harbour. If you want a more challenging route, hike up to the top of the castle and take in the views.
To top it off, the seafood is to die for.
Food
When you think of Spain you think of paella. And Alicante has its own version that is typical of the region - Paella Alicantina. Celebrating the Mediterranean Sea, with seafood being so fresh and accessible, it also incldues things like rabbit and chicken. Another typical dish is Arroz a banda.: rice served with fish. And of course tapas. We can't forget about the tapas.
