Alan Shearer summed up the relief among the Newcastle Untied fanbase after Nick Pope's penalty shootout heroics. The Magpies number one saved three penalties to ensure his side would have their name in the hat for the fourth round of the competition.
On a night where Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs went out of the competition, progression into the next round gives Newcastle a chance at winning some much-coveted silverware. Liverpool and Manchester City both secured their place in the next round, with the former of those two coming through a penalty shootout win over League One side Derby County.
Neither side were able to find the breakthrough in normal time at St. James' Park. Head coach Eddie Howe opting to drop a number of first-team regulars to the bench to give some players some much-needed minutes.

There were nervy moments on Tyneside when Sven Botman and Bruno Guimaraes both missed their spot kicks. But, up stepped Pope to calm any nerves.
Shearer took to social media after the game to deliver his simple Magpies' verdict.
