Julian Alvarez admits he is still adapting to life in England but is always learning from Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola.
Alvarez joined City in January 2022 but spent the second half of last season back on loan at River Plate, finally meeting up with his new teammates last summer. The 23-year-old has largely played a supporting role to the prolific Erling Haaland but has been hugely impressive when called upon, with nine goals across all competitions.
Having only played in his native Argentina before moving to City, the young forward would be excused to needing time to settle into the physicality of Premier League football and Guardiola's exacting methods. But instead he has taken to the challenge like a duck to water, thanks in part to the lessons of his new boss.

“It’s a lot of new things. I knew I was coming six months before,” he told TyC Sports. “I always try to get used to it and adapt as quickly as possible. The same thing happened to me when I left Calchín for Buenos Aires.
“The good thing is that I am with my family and my girlfriend, and the day-to-day life is a little easier. I feel good, even though some people talk about the weather.
“We all know what he [Guardiola] did, he’s one of the best coaches in the world. I try to listen and learn a lot of things. He had the best players and won so many things? You always learn and you can grow as a player and as a person.”
