Yosuke Ideguchi nearing Celtic transfer exit as forgotten midfielder poised for return home after 'rapid' talks

Yosuke Ideguchi is set to seal his exit from Celtic back home to Japan imminently, according to reports in Asia.

The midfielder arrived in January 2022 as part of a three-man J League swoop by Parkhead boss Ange Postecoglou. While Daizen Maeda and Reo Hatate have thrived in green and white, injuries have hampered their midfield peer's chances and he's featured on the bench just twice this campaign, not kicking a ball in anger. Overall he has played six competitive matches for Celtic.

It's reported by Sponichi that Japanese top flight club Avispa Fukuoka are in pole position to land him on loan. Gamba Osaka - who he left for Scotland - and Nagoya Grampus were also said to be interested but it looks likely he will head elsewhere after talks 'advanced rapidly.' It's another disappointing stint in the UK for Ideguchi, who's move to Leeds United in 2018 saw him leave a year later without having kicked a ball.

Oliver Abildgaard and Moritz Jenz left the Celtic fringes in January while Josip Juranovic was a high-profile exit from Postecoglou's plans. Giorgos Giakoumakis' move to Atlanta United is still to be finalised.
